| On September 30, 2008 Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) goes into effect as federal law. Under COOL All Livestock must have their origin (USA, USA and/or Canadian, USA and/or Mexican, etc.) declared before the animals are sold. Dear Producer: As a reminder to everyone delivering livestock, USDA demands
that markets no longer accept downer cattle and those that are
unable to walk on their own. It does not matter why the livestock
are non-ambulatory. Please make arrangements for other means of
disposal.
